Annual Cake Walk

The Cake Walk was started around 1991 and was initially for staff, residents, and families. But over the years, it has grown to be a favorite event to many people in the community. This event is supported by donations of cakes, door prizes, and special raffles. To help support the event, some of the local businesses will donate the door prizes, which can be anything from a free game of golf, gift certificates to local restaurants, or a variety of small gift items.

The special raffles are usually larger items donated by staff members or their family or items supported by The Woodlands. The money, that is raised, will go towards the Resident Activity Fund which is used to purchase multiple Christmas gifts for each resident or patient. This event has been so successful due to the support of the community, staff and a special volunteer (former family member) for most of the years, who would visit from South Carolina for a month and collect all the door prizes.

The event is usually coordinated by The Woodlands Health & Rehab Center Activity department. If you have questions or would like to donate an item to be raffled, please contact our Activities Department at 540-863-4096.
